Phew!!!

Organisation done!

Had a really good sort out in my sewing room this weekend as it was in such a dreadful state! I decided that this was due to a lack of storage and because this was my study previously there were stationary that could be removed.  I now have another shelving unit in an attempt to make placing things away easier, additional jars, fabric boxes and I have added fairy lights around the room to make it look more magical and enticing.  I love anything christmassy but think that the lights will become a permanent feature as they are begging me to come in and get on.  Luckily this is my room and therefore Rich has resigned that it will be girly even though I am most definately not.  How come I detest clutter and opt for a modern and minimalist house and yet in this room I go out of my way to collect and buy it albeit sewing related????

Production line

Once the room was all completed I sat and cut out 7 pillowcase dresses, binding and elastics so that they are all ready to be sewn.  I find that doing it in this production line manner works so much quicker, as I do not dally about deciding on colours, or getting fed up with the stop-start sewing.

There will be a revealing session soon.

Sew-In cafe tonight

First promotion stint!

I took along the magazine article promoting this fabulous cause along with the instructions and two dresses that I have made with me to a sew-in cafe.

The owner suggested it to inspire others to become involved if they wanted to become involved.  So off I trotted with my bag of tonights projects.

It was decided that everyone did in deed want to become involved and so it is planned that January will be the month that the group will make lots more dresses.

This is fantastic news, and i am very pleased that I have helped to inspire more people to become involved.  So watch this space!!! ...

This weekend - It's was Christmas !!

Christmas is here!!!

This weekend was spent in Christmas spirit, as I have realised that I need a Christmas theme jumper for school as it is Save the Children - Christmas Jumper Day.  After a lot of fiddling around on the internet I decided that I would not spend £30 + on a jumper that I would not really wear.  After looking closely at some of the jumpers I thought 'I could make that' and so I set to it.

I headed off to buy a sweatshirt and a few sheets of felt and this is what I have created:

I am now really in the Christmassy mood and so I shall be scanning the internet for some more Christmas stitching.

Until next time ....

This weekend's stitching...

After spending a few hours both yesterday and today, I have managed to complete 6 dresses.  I hope that you are able to find one of your donations.

This dress has white lace and red dotty ribbon attached near the bottom but it is not visible.

Once again, thank you all for your donations and interest in this great cause.  I hope that you have all had a lovely relaxing weekend too.

Children in Dresses

Images of children in homemade dresses

I thought that it would be nice to display some of the photographs of children in homemade pillowcase dresses. Therefore providing an insight into what they look like and the difference it makes to these beautiful children.

As promised...

I thought that as it was a nice sunny day I had better polish off my camera and take some pictures of the other dresses that have been made to date.  I am certainly picking up speed now as I am only needing to look at the instructions for sizing measurements.

I have tried to work to a variety of ages depending on the start size of the pillowcase, so here they all are so far:

This dress is fr a girl of 11 years of age

This dress is made for a little baby girl

This dress is for a little girl of 12-13 years of age
This dress is suitable for a girl of 9-10 years of age.

Once again, thank you x
